Pioneer with an affinity for history

Heinz Schneider, oldest son of a Leiwen vintner, read Business before taking over the father’s estate. In cooperation with other young vintners he formed the ‘Leiwener Jungwinzer’ (Leiwener young vintners) alliance to further the production and marketing of internationally competitive wines and turn back from the making of predominantly sweet mass market wines. He purchased and renovated the former convent, restructured the estate and modernised it to today’s standards. At the beginning of the 90ies he was one of the very first vintners that pioneered the growing of red grapes in the region. .
